COVID-19 Pandemic. Numbers are rising every day, in terms of people getting infected and dying of COVID-19. We have seen it in the news. This pandemic must be taken seriously. We are battling a deadly virus that we cannot see. The worst part is the vaccine yet to be made.  However, we can do something. We all know this: Prevention is better than cure. So the best way to help flatten the curve is to take care of yourself. These are some of the ways on how to keep yourself healthy and fit.   

Eat Healthily 

There is a saying, “You are what you eat!” Well, it is true because if you eat healthy food, then it results in having a healthy body. Eating the right kinds of food is very important nowadays. Living in a fast-paced world leaves us with no choice but to settle on the instant. Instant coffee, instant noodles, you name it! However, this pandemic slows our lives down. We are forced to take a pause. We are reminded to take care of ourselves and part of that is eating right. Eat food that could boost your immune system. Foods rich in vitamin C and zinc are the key. Fruits and vegetables should be part of our diet. Start cutting back your salt and take fats and unhealthy oils in moderation. Also start limiting your sugar intakes and it is very important to stay hydrated.  The pandemic gives us the temptation to just rely on food deliveries, however, as much as possible, limit your fast food consumption, and prepare your healthy food. Eating healthy can help our body prevent, fight, and recover from whatever sicknesses and diseases.   

Exercise Daily at Home

One of the greatest temptations of staying at home is slacking off. Many have become a couch potato during this COVID-19 crisis. Because we are encouraged to not go out, many of us are not able to go to the gym or jog around the park. However, there are still exercises that we can do in our homes. Despite the restrictions, let us do what we can do to move around and keep those muscles moving. We can do light-intensity physical movements such as walking and stretching. Exercising is beneficial to both physical and mental health. Taking 3 to 4 minutes of light intensity physical movement can help improve your blood circulation and help ease muscle tension. It also helps you manage your weight and at the same time, prevent the risk of other diseases.  So stay physically active even during the pandemic.   

Get enough sleep

Sleep plays an important role in our physical health. It helps in your body’s repair, regeneration, and recovery. Aside from eating the right kind of food and exercising, sleep is one of the effective ways to boost your immune system. With our current situation, many are staying at home, and are consumed with the work from home set up. Aside from that, many are caught up with social media. People nowadays spend hours and hours online. With all of these, many people are compromising their sleep. Sleeping patterns are messed up and many are not getting the right amount of sleep that they need resulting in lack of rest. It is important to put a premium on sleep so be sure to sleep on time.

It is a must to stay healthy during this pandemic because health is wealth. To protect ourselves from the virus, we must first and foremost prioritize be keeping ourselves healthy. We are responsible for taking care of our bodies. So let us do what we can to stay healthy and to boost our immune system most especially this pandemic.
